Do hàm lượng cacbon cao, cấu trúc không đồng nhất, độ bền thấp và tính dẻo kém, điện cực gang có tính hàn kém và dễ hình thành vết nứt khi hàn. Tốc độ nguội sau khi hàn cực nhanh và cấu trúc trắng dễ hình thành, dẫn đến việc làm việc của máy gặp nhiều khó khăn.
