General Introduction of Pneumatic Floating Rubber Fender
Pneumatic floating rubber fenders can play an important role in ships’ safe berthing operation. Essentially there are two main types of floating pneumatic rubbers, defined as either low or high pressure fenders. Pneumatic rubber fenders are made of synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheets with compressed air inside at intitial pressure of 50kPa (low pressure) or 80kPa (high pressure) to enble it to float on water and work as a shock absorber between two ships or between ship and a dock. Although manufactured using different techniques, both low and high pressure fenders work by the same principle.
